Business leaders back scheme for Edinburgh airport runway in Fife

The plan, drawn up by Jean Bernardi, director of TLT Consultancy, identifies
a strip of land between Glenrothes and Buckhaven and Kirkcaldy as the ideal site
for a new runway. Mr Bernadi claims it would cut costs, ease deliveries and boost
the local economy.   But the Green MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife, Mark Ruskell,
said: “There is enough concern about Fife turning into a giant dormitory town
for Edinburgh. Turning it into an airstrip for Edinburgh’s airport is not what
communities or the environment really need.”   Also, MSPs from across the political
divide are pressing the Scottish Executive to rule out “premium” fares on the
new rail link to Edinburgh Airport. (Scotsman, and Edinburgh Evening News)
