New Southampton Airport boss named

David Lees has been appointed the new managing director of Southampton Airport,
after three years working at the hub. He will take on the role from July 31 and
replaces the Kevin Brown, who is to take control of sister BAA airport Edinburgh.

Mr Lees joined Southampton Airport in 2007 as planning and development director,
and was responsible for the airport’s masterplan, which predicts how the airport
will develop in the years to 2030. He is 42, married with two children, and his
interests include swimming, running, photography, travelling and playing the saxophone.

Edinburgh Airport’s new boss moving from Aberdeen

Kevin Brown, who is currently managing director of Aberdeen and Southampton Airports,
is move to Edinburgh Airport from the end of July. The move follows last month’s
announcement that Gordon Dewar had handed in his notice after securing the job
of chief executive of Bahrain Airport.

BAA said it was ‘delighted’ it could fill the post ‘from within’. A spokesman
added: ‘We are sorry that Gordon is going, but delighted that we can name his
replacement from within the company. Whilst Gordon leaves Edinburgh Airport in
a strong position, Kevin takes the reins at a time of huge challenges for our
industry. We are confident that he will lead this vital part of Scotland’s economy
into its next stage of development and success.’

Mr Brown joined BAA in October 2002. He has held positions at both Heathrow and
Aberdeen Airport and was appointed managing director at Aberdeen in 2007. In 2008,
he was appointed managing director of both Aberdeen and Southampton Airports.
He said one of his main objectives in the new job would be to improve the number
of direct flights from Edinburgh.

AN airport boss is about to see his career soar to new heights when he takes

Dave Lees, 42, will be bumped up from operations director to the top job next
month.

The dad-of-two joined BAA 20 years ago as a trainee and his career took off seeing
him holding top posts in passenger terminal management, engineering, industry
regulation, commerce and service.

Since joining Southampton in 2007 he has pushed forward improvements and seen
the airport get voted the best in Europe for customer service.   He takes over
from Kevin Brown who is leaving to run Edinburgh Airport.
