There are no AirportWatch conferences planned in the near future.
AirportWatch and AEF held a workshop on the NATS London Terminal Control North flightpath changes - on Tuesday 8th April in London. The meeting was well attended, with many local councillors from areas to be affected by the NATS proposals.
AEF Conference for local Councillors - "Planning for airport expansion and its impacts"
Campaign groups, large and small, from across Europe will have a chance to hear what is going on at a European level, meet each other, exchange campaign ideas and, generally, see the extent of opposition there is to airport expansion across Europe. There is no charge for the conference, other than for lunch.
A seminar to explore how effective Emissions Trading and other fiscal measures, such as a charge on emissions or tax on fuel, could be in tackling emissions from aviation. At the end of 2006 the Commission published its proposals to tackle emissions from aviation. During 2007 these proposals will be debated in the Parliament and the Council of Ministers. A decision is expected to be taken on whether to include aviation in the EU Emissions Trading Scheme, and on the other fiscal measures.
AirportWatch held a seminar on Public Inquiries, in London, on Saturday 28th October. This was aimed at people who might be facing a public inquiry in relation to their local airport.
AirportWatch hosted a conference for campaign groups and individuals in York on Saturday 13th May 2006. The event was designed to support new and existing campaigners at the UK's smaller regional airports.
31 January 2004, Clement House, London School of Economics, London Local and national groups were invited to participate in this conference to discuss the way forward following the Government’s publication of the Aviation White Paper. Speakers provided a national perspective and examples of planned local initiatives, although the focus of the meeting was open, but structured, discussion on lobbying and campaigning together.
