CAA release provisional statistics for the previous month for UK airports around
15th of each month.

Air Transport White Paper (ATWP) will be replaced by the Aviation NPS (National Policy Statement). The
consultation on the draft aviation NPS - by the DfT - will be in March 2011 with
approval scheduled for late 2011. The DfT is clear that the NPS will only cover
those airports in the White Paper that qualify as major infrastructure projects.
All other airports will have their planning guidance confirmed in the next Progress
Report – hence the reason for doing them in parallel. The delay in working on
the NPS is probably because it would be pointless before a general election - with Conservative policy on London airports different
to that of Labour.
The airports NPS (National Policy Statement) will not only cover the national
need, but it will also set out locations that the government thinks are suitable
for nationally significant development, and areas which it considers are not suitable.
BAA is not expected to seek planning permission for a third runway at Heathrow
until 2012.
